The film also reveals Frank's past.Principal photography began on December 16, 2014 in Prague, Czech Republic. The film was set to be released on August 1, 2015, but was pushed to September 4, 2015. In January 2015, the first teaser was shown before screenings of "Spectre". In February 2015, a new trailer was shown at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and CinemaCon in Las Vegas. It was then released on July 30 in various European countries before being released worldwide on August 13. It was released in the United States on August 19. The film received generally negative reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 33%, based on 111 reviews, with an average rating of 4.8/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "There are so many things wrong with "The Transporter: Refueled" that its only redeeming quality is Jason Statham's presence as Frank Martin." On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating to reviews, the film has a score of 28 out of 100, based on 27 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".
